Seattle Center Seattle, Washington Copyright © 2024 OneWorldImages.com Seattle Center was given life as a result of the 1962 World Exposition. The vast complex includes several theaters and performance halls, an athletic arena, a science center and planetarium, the well known Space Needle, and much more. This photo includes a segment of the Experience Music Project (EMP), one of the Center's newest additions. EMP, established by one of Seattle's Microsoft co-founders, is a museum for lovers of music. The building, designed by Frank O. Gehry, is unquestionably unique. Where the Central Library is a structure of lines and sharp angles, EMP is an edifice of never-ending curves and morphing shapes. This photograph provides no allusion to the building's shape, but it does hint at the boldness of colors used throughout. In the large version, you can make out the rivets and panels of the shiny (in this segment, purple) exterior. The structure in the foreground is one of the rides in Seattle Center's modest amusement park. Here's another shot of the same purple segment of the building. << View Large Image >>
